DAYTON — A driver of a truck whose crane made contact with an electrical wire at a Miami Valley Hospital construction site was briefly zapped but not seriously injured, a Dayton fire captain said.
The incident occurred at the site on Wyoming Street at about 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, said Dayton fire Capt. Barry Baldwin. John Jones, who works with the driver and witnessed the incident, said the driver followed training in holding on to the wheel during the incident.
“He said he got a little tingle,” Jones said.
Jones said small flames appeared on the truck’s rear tires but were quickly extinguished. Dayton Power and Light workers replaced a fuse but there was no other apparent damage, Baldwin said.
The driver was taken inside the hospital to determine any possible affects, but he seemed to be without injury at the scene, Baldwin said.
“They were lucky, and he did the right thing,” he said.
