The Ohio Department of Transportation will pay for improvements in 2012 at the West Market Street/Dorset Road/Archer Drive intersection, one of the top accident areas in the city.
City Council agreed Dec. 5 to hire TEC Engineering for $47,597 to design the improvements.
City Engineer Deborah Swan said the eastbound West Market Street turn lane will be moved to improve visibility for turning motorists and signal timing will be changes for better traffic flow. The estimate project cost is more than $200,000.
Swan said receives more calls from motorists about near-misses at the intersection than any other. Patrick Titterington, city service and safety director, said the intersection is one of the city’s top two or three accident areas. nancy bowman, contributing writer
