The Dayton Metro Library set a schedule of five furlough days to help meet a budget shortfall caused by $4.9 million in state cuts.
Starting Sept. 17, ten of the branch libraries will close every other Thursday until Nov. 12. The Main Library and the other ten branch libraries begin the furlough days on Sept. 24, and close on alternating Thursdays until Nov. 19.
Programs scheduled on furlough days are canceled. Due dates are adjusted so nothing is due on furlough days. The Main Library will close on Sundays.
A 1.75-mill levy for the library is on the Nov. 3 ballot.
These libraries will close on Thursdays, Sept. 17, Oct. 1, 15, 29 and Nov. 12.
