MIAMISBURG — A dog that was thrown from a moving vehicle on South Union Road in Miamisburg on Thursday is recovering at the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center.
A good Samaritan called county Animal Care and Control Officers and the Miamisburg Police after witnessing the female boxer being thrown onto the road from a moving red pickup truck.
The dog, named Bounce by ARC staff, was treated for minor head trauma and road rash.
ARC Director Mark Kumpf said Bounce was awake, alert and eating on Friday.
“She’s had a real rough way to go,” Kumpf said. “We’re hoping that she’s going to continue to improve.”
He said they must keep her for a minimum of three days, then she could be made available for adoption.
Kumpf said he hopes someone recognizes Bounce and can help identify who abandoned her.
“It’s pretty likely this is an intentional act of cruelty,” he said.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the animal resource center or Miamisburg police.
Donations can be made to the Tiny Tim Fund to help pay for medical care for Bounce and other injured animals by contacting the ARC at (937) 898-4457.
Dog licenses on sale
ARC also is reminding dog owners that the deadline to buy a 2012 dog license has been extended through Feb. 29. Licenses are $20 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered and $24 for those that have not.
Dog owners can purchase licenses at the Auditor’s Office, ARC or online at www.mcohio.org/dogs.
