XENIA — An electrical fire did about $50,000 damage to a house at 200 High St. in Xenia on Monday evening, April 27, said Capt. Keith Giffin of the Xenia Fire Department.
The fire department received a call that smoke was coming from the rear of the house just before 7 p.m. Monday, Giffin said. When crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from around the roofline at the rear of the house.
Giffin said fire crews weren’t able to make immediate entry into the house because the fire and smoke were too intense. They applied water from outside until beating down the fire enough to make entry.
Once the fire was under control, an inspection of the scene revealed that the fire started in electrical wiring on the house’s front porch, Giffin said. Flames apparently spread from their point of origin through the attic area of the house, he said.
The heat of the fire did some minor damage to the siding of a house at 190 High St., Giffin said. There were no injuries to residents of the houses, but two firefighters received minor injuries fighting the blaze.
