The song is “White Christmas,” not “Wet Christmas,” but the Dayton area appears likely to get the latter.
Rain will arrive in the Miami Valley roughly the same time Santa does, as the National Weather Service is predicting a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain overnight, beginning sometime after 10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24.
Winds will pick up overnight, blowing 20 to 25 mph from the east, but with overnight lows expected to stay at 35 degrees or above, snow appears unlikely.
The Christmas Day forecast calls for morning rain, breezy south winds near 20 mph and a high near 43.
The Dayton area missed the leading edge of the storm, which brought freezing rain to much of Indiana on Thursday morning.
