FAIRBORN — A fire in an apartment at South Street and Wright Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, destroyed the apartment and sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries, one from smoke inhalation and one with minor burns to his hands.

Fairborn police sent several patrol cars to the scene to keep traffic away from the scene, according to a police supervisor contacted this morning, Thursday, Nov. 5.

Kara Southworth, shown on WHIO-TV this morning, said she escaped the apartment but four of her five dogs did not. She reported that her boyfriend was on a couch with a blanket over him that caught on fire. Drapes in the room he was in were also on fire, she said.

The boyfriend grabbed the drapes and took them outside and received burns on his hands from the drapes, she said. She returned from the hospital this morning and her boyfriend went to the hospital to have blistering on his hands treated, according to the report.

Wow, at least they made it out without serious injuries. I feel sad for them for losing their dogs. I bet the dog that survived is also heat broken.
