Emergency dispatchers reported a few accidents on the roads early this morning, Dec. 19.

But problems weren’t numerous before 8:30 a.m.

“So far, it’s been quiet,” a dispatcher for the Lebanon post of the Ohio State Highway patrol said at about 8:15 a.m. “Keep your fingers crossed.”

A Dayton police dispatcher reported one accident on Interstate 75 northbound near U.S. 35 at about 8 a.m. “I don’t think it’s anything serious,” he said.

A dispatcher for the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center reported three accidents: Near Ohio 49 and Brookville-Salem Road in Clayton, another near Ohio 725 and Medlar Road in Miami Twp. and another on Ohio 48 in Washington Twp. He wasn’t able to say if any of those incidents involved injuries.

No problems were reported in Kettering, Oakwood, Centerville or Englewood before 8:20 a.m. The highway patrol’s Dayton-Eaton post reported no problems.

Weather is much worse closer to the east coast. A swath from Virginia to southern New England is being hammered today with an expected two feet of snow in some locales. According to the Dayton International Airport’s Web site, two flights to Washington and another to Philadelphia had been cancelled. As of about 11:30 a.m., most flights were scheduled to leave on time.

The National Weather Service calls for another one to two inches of snow today, with perhaps another half-inch tonight, with a high today of 33 and a low tonight of 24. Sunday is forecast to be cloudy with a high of 33 and another low of 24, with a chance of snow. Monday is expected to be slightly colder, with temperatures gradually rising through the week.
