BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek’s fire chief credited landscapers with helping a woman and her dogs get away from her burning house at 3476 Plantation Place on Thursday, Aug. 5.
Beavercreek Fire Chief David VandenBos said the landscapers were in the neighborhood and saw smoke coming from the house and they stopped to help. They got at least two dogs out of the house and helped the homeowner, who was out in her back yard and struggling with the smoke, VandenBos said. She was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and treated for minor smoke inhalation.
Firefighters responded to calls at 1:04 p.m. and when they arrived, the flames were flying through the roof, VandenBos said. Firefighters from Beavercreek, Kettering, Bellbrook and Sugarcreek Twp. were on the scene to help battle the fire and got it under control an hour later.
The fire destroyed the house. The cause was undetermined late Thursday.
