HARRISON TWP., Montgomery County — Firefighters were called to a burning house in the 2100 block of Coronette Avenue on Friday.

A neighbor called 911 shortly before 8 a.m. to report flames coming out of the house at 2105 Coronette. The street runs off North Dixie Drive near Frederick Pike.

Harrison Twp. Fire Chief Mark Lynch said firefighters found heavy fire on the second floor of the house when they arrived. Concerned about safety and the potential for firefighters to fall through the floor of the second story, the chief ordered firefighters to attack from outside the building.

Two female occupants were not home when the fire began. They will be assisted by the Red Cross.

Lynch said investigators were beginning work to determine what caused the fire.
