Funeral set for officer who had H1N1 flu

Funeral arrangements have been set for Preble County Sheriff’s Capt. Michael Thornsberry, who died Friday, Nov. 6, apparently from H1N1 flu virus and complications, including pneumonia.

Thornsberry, 38 and a 15-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, fell ill Oct. 20, was hospitalized Oct. 25, and was subsequently diagnosed with both viral and bacterial pneumonia as well as H1N1.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Church of the Brethren, 813 Camden Road, in Eaton on Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. at the church in Eaton.

Thornsberry is survived by his wife, Michelle, daughters Faith and Allie, and granddaughter Jenna.
