The Greene County Republican Party plans to fill its vacant executive and central committee chair position June 8.
According to a letter sent to party members by executive vice chair Grace Ramos, the meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. June 8 at the Greene County Social Services media room at 541 Ledbetter Road in Xenia.
The group is replacing Greene County Commissioner Marilyn Reid, who resigned at a May 12 meeting after 11 years in the job.
Reid announced she would step down in a Jan. 5 meeting after a motion and second called for a secret vote on her removal. No vote was taken.
The letter also said an election of a vice chair may be needed. After the agenda, a paragraph reads, “Grace Ramos has expressed interest in running for the unexpired term of executive chair. There may be other nominations from the floor for the position of executive chair.”
The letter also says candidates will be given three minutes to speak and that those interested in running could call Reid to discuss the full job description.
The note says if Ramos is elected as chair, another vote immediately would be held for vice chair.
Ramos was on the Greene County Board of Elections, but resigned in 2005 when her son-in-law, Tracy Smith, was named executive director.
The board hired Smith after his sister-in-law and Ramos’ daughter, Sabrina Ramos, turned down the job in a salary dispute.
Grace Ramos was then replaced by David Reid, the son of Marilyn Reid.
Grace Ramos serves on the Greene County Children’s Services Board and was a member of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.
