FAIRBORN — All the southbound lanes on Interstate 675 were reopened as of 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, according to a Fairborn police dispatcher.

One lane of southbound Interstate 675 had been shut down between North Fairfield Road and Dayton Yellow Springs Road while Ohio State Highway Patrol officials investigated a rollover accident.

The accident was reported to the Xenia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol sometime around 4:30 p.m., according to patrol dispatcher Adam Daab.

A preliminary investigation suggests that a male motorist was trying to avoid a back up of traffic in the northbound lanes of I-675 and his car ended up rolling on its side.

“(The motorist) ended up going on both lanes of traffic...He went up the hill...his car rolled (over),” Daab said.

Daab did not know if the man was injured, but said authorities on the scene reported that the man was walking around at the scene.

The traffic back up in the northbound lanes of I-675 was due to a vehicle fire that Fairborn Police were investigating, Daab said. At least one of the northbound lanes had been shut down, but was back open by 5:20 p.m.

The fire occurred as a result of a vehicle going down into an embankment and hitting a tree, according to a Fairborn police dispatcher.

At least one person was taken to a local hospital. No word on the seriousness of the injury and no other details were immediately available.

I-675...southern Dayton's version of ElDora Speedway...amazing that such a big/wide/mutilane open expanse of concrete is so difficult to navigate...what in the hell is wrong with everyone using it? Do we need to install NASCAR "crash walls"? Get off your cell phone, don't text, eat your Arby's/McDonalds at the fast food place, and maybe you won't wreck/injure/kill your travelling neighbor. Oh...It's everyone else's fault due to your constitutional right to drive...anyway you want to...right???
