GREENVILLE — A house near Greenville caught fire when lightning struck it Sunday afternoon, June 14, Darke County authorities said.
The family was not home at the time and no injuries were reported, county dispatcher Jacy Dohme said.
Lightning struck the house at 3705 Iroquois Lane in the Wayne Lakes development between Greenville and New Madison, Dohme said. A caller alerted authorities shortly before 3 p.m.
Firefighters had extinguished the blaze prior to 6 p.m., she said. Damage was extensive, but part of the house was still standing, Dohme said.
The Red Cross was alerted and was arranging temporary housing for the family, she said.
