DAYTON — The Humane Society of Greater Dayton has won a $20,000 office technology makeover after getting the most online votes in the Modern Office Methods’ Jump START Your Nonprofit Contest.

More than 16,000 people cast online votes.

“The organization’s submission was very touching, and it’s obvious that the work it does matters to a lot of people in the community,” said Steve Bandy, senior vice president at MOM.

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton has been in operation since 1902. It works on pet adoption, cruelty prevention programs, spay/neutering programs and community education on responsible pet ownership. In 2009, the organization adopted 2,808 animals into new homes.

“Most of our funding goes directly into the programs that help animals in need throughout our community, and very little typically goes toward funding office infrastructure,” said Brian Weltge, executive director at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. “This $20,000 technology makeover will enable us to remain focused on helping animals.”
