MLK Memorial March, today, Jan. 18. Marchers will begin walking at 10:45 a.m. from St. Paul United Methodist Church, 101 Huffman Ave., and SCLC headquarters, 2132 W. Third St.; and at 11 a.m. from the Vineyard Church, 1222 N. Main St., and the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 1943 S. Main St. A rally at Courthouse Square will follow.

CNN political analyst Roland Martin will speak at 6:30 p.m. today at the Dayton Convention Center. Tickets are $60. Call (937) 259-7930 for information.

Students from Central State University’s Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity chapter will march at 10:30 a.m. today from the campus in Wilberforce to City Hall in Xenia, where a rally will follow. King was a noted member of Alpha Phi Alpha.

Wright State University will host its “Freedom School” Day of Service today at the Dayton Peace Museum.

Poet and educator Elizabeth Alexander will speak at 11 a.m. today at Weaver Chapel on the Wittenberg University campus in Springfield. The event is free and open to the public.

Wright State’s inaugural Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Service Awards will be presented 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Student Union Apollo Room to five people who have distinguished themselves through public service to help eliminate racism, poverty or violence. Tickets are $10 for students and $25 for the public.
