KETTERING — A 20-year-old Kettering man was ordered to clean up some trash after police said they found trash illegally dumped and traced it to him.
Police were called to the Rosewood Arts Centre, 2655 Olson Drive about 10:40 a.m. on May 20 to investigate an illegal dumping complaint. Apparently, a city worker discovered some trash in a field next to the center, according to Kettering Police Officer Michael Burke.
Police searched the trash and found an address on Delaney Street that lead them to the 20-year-old male, Burke said. The man was identified in a police incident log as Christopher Conley. He was ordered by police to pick up the trash.
The police also discovered that Conley had a warrant for his arrest that was issued by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for a driving under suspension charge. He was booked into the Kettering City Jail on the warrant.
Burke said individuals who take their trash to dumpsters located on the property of businesses could face misdemeanor theft of services charges, because it’s a theft of service. Businesses are paying to lease or rent a dumpster and the dumper is taking away from the service that is being paid for.
“You want to dispose of your garbage properly,” Burke said.
