Mohammed Shaikh, a 25-year old Miamisburg man, was killed in a Friday night crash on Interstate 675 when his 1998 Honda Civic traveling southbound on 675 near Wilmington Pike veered across the median and struck a vehicle in the northbound lane. The collision set off a chain reaction involving two other cars, two of which rolled over.
According to Sgt. Steven Maynard of the Centerville Police Department, the accident is still under investigation. The accident happened about 8:20 p.m. on Christmas.
“We don’t know why he veered out of the lane,” said Maynard about the driver who was alone in his car and was killed. “No one has been charged in this matter.”
One of the persons who was driving one of the other vehicles – a 2008 red Pontiac Grand Prix – was a 33- year old Miamisburg woman who was critically injured and CareFlighted to Miami Valley Hospital. Also in that car were a 14 year old Miamisburg girl who was Careflighted to Miami Valley and 12 and 10 year olds taken to Dayton Children’s.
In the third vehicle, a 19-year-old Springfield woman, driving a 1997 maroon Chevrolet Blazer was removed by ambulance to Miami Valley South. Her passenger, a 17-year-old female from Urbana, was removed and also taken by ambulance to Miami Valley South.
A small black and brown dog being held by one of the crash victims was missing after the crash, but was found dead this morning after being struck by a vehicle on the southbound side of I-675. according to Maynard.
Names of the other victims have not been released.
The accident happened just south of the intersection of Wilmington Pike and 675.
“It is not a high accident area,” said Maynard.
