ARCANUM, Darke County — The man who died after his powered parachute collided with another aircraft has been identified, the Darke County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Terry E. Price, 56, of Arcanum died after a mid-air collision Monday night, Aug. 24.
Price collided with the Ultralite aircraft flown by Thomas J. Jackson, 66, also of Arcanum. Jackson was flown to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred about 8:45 p.m. near Arcanum-Ithaca Road at Grubbs-Rex Road, according to the sheriff’s office, about midway between the villages of Arcanum and Ithaca.
A passer-by reported seeing the gliders collide, sending one crashing into a corn field and the other onto the roadway, the sheriff’s office said.
It was not immediately clear how high the gliders were when the incident occurred, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are investigating, and the Federal Aviation Administration has been contacted to aid in the investigation.
