SPRINGBORO — The school board has rescheduled its meeting to select a new health insurance plan for the district’s employees for Thursday, Feb. 11.

Due to the weather, the board postponed the meeting set for Tuesday night, Feb. 9, to decide on the health plan and consider other business.

The new plan could cost as much as $800,000 more, while shifting more costs or liability to employees, officials said.

Otherwise, the board projected the district’s health care costs to jump 25 percent to $5.5 million, including about $4.9 million paid by the district, in 2010.

The board is expected to weigh two plans, either of which could cost an average of $1,600 for each employee, Superintendent David Baker said.

One plan would charge higher premiums, the other would provide less funding by the district of health spending accounts used by employees to offset out-of-pocket costs.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Springboro High School.
