MIAMISBURG — Police and fire officials are investigating a late-morning garage fire at 9530 Medlar Woods on Friday, Sept. 10.

One of two buildings behind the home at that address was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Loud popping sounds could be heard as the structure burned to the ground.

“At this point, the fire department will be doing an investigation to try to uncover what started the fire,” Miamisburg police Sgt. Jon Thompson said. “No one was hurt. That’s the most important thing.”

A crowd of neighbors gathered to watch the blaze and plume of smoke in the area with a handful of large homes just south of Pipestone Golf Course. The smoke could be seen from Interstate 75.

“He said he just parked his lawn mower in there after cutting the grass and came back in (the house) to clean up and play golf,” said Miami Twp. Lieut. Bob Spencer of the homeowner. “That’s the only thing I can think of for now.”
