XENIA - Missing wife and mother Tiffany Tehan and Tre Hutcherson were romantically involved, according to statements made to Miami Beach officers who found the two missing people unharmed.

Tiffiany’s disappearance touched off a frenzy that prompted daily prayer vigils and neighborhood searches, generated national media attention and created a stir on social media sites — including a website for daily updates and a Facebook page with more than 29,000 members.

On Monday, Hutcherson became considered a person of interest after surveillance photos surfaced of the two together in a Belmont-area Circle K convenience store from two weeks ago.

Police later learned Hutcherson and Tehan had visited the store frequently in the last few weeks. Hutcherson lives in the Belmont area, while Tehan works at an insurance agency a few doors away from the store.

By Thursday morning, Xenia police announced in a press release: “Tiffany is safe and has now been in contact with her family. She is no longer considered a possibly endangered missing.”

‘Absolutely’ forgive her

During a press conference Thursday morning at Patterson Park Church in Beavercreek, Tehan’s husband, David, said he “absolutely” forgave his wife, did not blame her for her mistakes, wants to see his marriage continue and said what comes next is up to her.

David Tehan said he spoke with his wife Wednesday night.

“She is doing fine. She is doing well,” he said. “It was a short conversation.”

He does not know how to respond to the news his wife was found with another man.

“It’s supernatural,” he said.

“She may have made some mistakes, but everyone does. I can’t blame her for that. I have no idea what we’re hoping for. A lot of that is up to her.”

David Tehan said he feels anger toward Hutcherson, but said he didn’t know him at all, and he is mystified by his wife’s decision to run away with Hutcherson.

“Things were normal. Things were good. It’s hard to understand how this could have happened in light of that,” David Tehan said.

Tiffany’s father, Chuck Tabor, said he harbors “no anger,” adding his family is thrilled she is coming home.

“We’ve got confusion,” Tabor said. “But quite frankly, our hearts are just filled with joy. We are so excited about that. My response last night when she called us was, she’s my little girl. And I can’t say enough about that.

“There may be issues to work through, but she’s OK, and we can work through the issues.”

David Tehan said police have not told him when he and the couple’s daughter, Alexis, will be reunited with Tiffany.

He reiterated he has never met Hutcherson.

“I don’t know anything about him,” David Tehan said. “I don’t know what kind of person he is, and I’m not going to guess.”

‘They are not under arrest.’

Mike Brooks, spokesman for the Cincinnati FBI office, said Thursday he did not know where Tehan and Hutcherson were.

“They are not under arrest,” Brooks said. “They are not in custody.”

While local officials would review the case to see if state charges could be filed against Tehan or Hutcherson, “they will not be charged with any federal crime,” Brooks said.

The FBI has withdrawn from the investigation, because there has been no kidnapping.

“She has not been kidnapped,” Brooks said. “She was not harmed. She was not in any physical danger.”

Tiffany Tehan told Miami Beach detectives that she left Ohio voluntarily “with the intent of starting a new life,” according to police.

Acting on information received from Xenia police, Miami Beach detectives stopped a vehicle with Hutcherson and Tehan inside on Wednesday night, April 21, Miami Beach Sgt. Wayne Jones said.

The two had been staying at the International Inn hotel and were apparently returning to the hotel when police found them, Jones said.

Tiffany Tehan’s statements to detectives revealed a “romantic” relationship between the two, Jones said.

A tearful phone call

Tiffany Tehan was reported missing by her husband Saturday after she called him after shopping in the morning at The Greene in Beavercreek.

Xenia police, who led the investigation, issued a press release earlier Thursday saying, “Tiffany is safe and has now been in contact with her family. She is no longer considered a possibly endangered missing.

“We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in this matter,” the statement read.

Chuck Tabor said he spoke to his daughter overnight.

“It was a prayer answered,” he said.

Tabor and his wife, Susie, said they listened to their daughter on a speakerphone. She was crying.

“It was very good conversation,” said Chuck Tabor, a former pastor. “It was good to hear that she was safe and that she was alive. How it goes from here will be a difficult run, but we’re going to walk that road with her.
