MONROE — The Monroe Local School District is getting closer to naming a new treasurer.
Holly Cahall, the current treasurer of Wilmington City Schools, will be interviewed for a third time at 10 a.m. Saturday by the Monroe school board.
“The outcome of that will probably determine the course of action,” said Dan Hare, the superintendent of the Butler County Educational Service Center who is facilitating the search for Monroe.
Cahall was one of three finalists who received second-round interviews on Wednesday night.
“There’s some issues that sometimes crop up, and the candidate and board like to spend more time together before any decision is made,” Hare said. “It doesn’t necessarily mean the other two are out of the picture.”
The other two finalists were Nicholas Roberts (who works for the auditor, state of Ohio) and Kevin Burr (payroll/accounting supervisor of Centerville City Schools).
Monroe has a school board meeting Monday night, and Hare said it’s unlikely that the new treasurer will be named at that time.
“Probably not,” Hare said. “It takes a little time for these things to work through the process. We’re making steady progress. It’s probably unlikely, but anything’s possible.”
Ken Ulm, the BCESC treasurer, is currently serving as Monroe’s interim treasurer. He took over Aug. 1 for Kelley Thorpe, who left to become treasurer at Middletown City Schools.
