Motorists be aware: New crosswalk at the Fort Piqua Plaza

PIQUA, Miami County — Motorists driving through Piqua are asked to be aware of the designation of a new crosswalk at the Fort Piqua Plaza.

The city recently installed striping and signage to the elevated crosswalk on High Street directly in front of the plaza, according to a press release.

The signs advise motorists that it is state law to yield to pedestrians crossing within the designated crosswalk. Special pavement markings have also been installed on both approaches to the crosswalk indicating drivers must yield to allow for a safer walkway for pedestrians.

Motorists are being asked to proceed through the designated area with extreme caution, stopping for pedestrians as they make use of the elevated crosswalk.
