A group of North Atlantic Treaty Organization country delegates will visit the Dayton area on Feb. 3-4 and will tour and meet officials at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, said U.S. Rep. Michael Turner, R-Centerville.
Turner, who is chairman of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, said about 35 of 40 of the 257 assembly delegates will visit Washington, D.C., and then Dayton. He said there will be a forum on the Balkans, which will include an update on the situation in Bosnia in the years since the Dayton Peace Accords ended the conflict in 1995. The forum will be open to the public.
“We will highlight Dayton’s role in the Dayton Peace Accords and really, the job that remains as you look to the Balkans (and) Bosnia,” said Turner.
Turner also said the tour of the base will be an opportunity to promote to allies what is done there, including military procurement and intelligence work. He said promoting Wright-Patt helps protect it.
Details on the Balkans forum are not yet available.
