MORAINE — An estimated 2,000 to 3,000 gallons of diesel fuel spilled and closed Arbor Boulevard between Springboro Pike and Carillon Boulevard.

The spill was reported to Moraine police and fire dispatch center after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The leak happened near Dayton Power & Light’s Tait Station. DP&L said that a tanker truck over-pressurized while it was being filled with diesel from a storage tank.

Moraine Fire Division officials sought help from the Dayton Haz-Mat team and notified the Ohio EPA about the spill. A private contractor was dispatched to the scene to help with cleanup.

The spill happened near the Great Miami River, and Moraine Fire Chief Anthony Trick said, "We are concerned about that."

Officials took steps to prevent the diesel from making it to the water, Trick said.
