WAYNE TWP. — Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims said a body was found Thursday morning in the woods near Caesar Creek State Park.
Sheriff’s office officials said the body was found by hunters around 10:30 a.m. near the Horseman’s Campground at Caesar Creek, which is located on Furnas-Oglesby Road off of Ohio 73.
Sims said no additional information would be released until after an autopsy is performed on Friday. The incident is under investigation, he said.
Doyle Burke, Warren County Coroner’s chief investigator, said the office isn’t really releasing anything, but did confirm it is not the body of missing Fairfield woman Katelyn Markham, who has been gone since Aug. 13.
That case has gained national attention as CNN’s Nancy Grace has reported on Markham’s disappearance.
Warren County officials would not confirm the gender of the body found Thursday, and did not say if it is that of a reportedly missing person.
“It’s not decomposed that we can’t tell what’s going on with it,” Burke said.
