HARRISON TWP. — A woman was taken to the hospital with injuries from an apartment fire at the Riverside Apartments, 4049 Iddings Court. The fire was caused when an oxygen tank caught fire at 4:50 a.m., Friday, Nov. 20.

Sgt. Bodine of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said fire fighters weren’t at the scene long, but no other information about the damage or injuries was available at this time.

The woman injured, Fran, is almost like a second mom to me. She's terminally ill with pulmonary fibrosis, and requires diluted oxygen. Nicotine is the most addictive substance on earth, and many terminally ill people are unable to quit. It's not a lack of willpower, nor any kind of "stupidity". Don't go around judging people - she is a fellow human being who is suffering. Pray for her, and be as merciful to others as you'd want them to be to you if you were in the same situation. Thank you.

The point of my earlier comment was that many have bad habits, but seems the smokers are the only ones really punished and blamed for all ills.We pay a heavy chunk of the state taxes as well and I dont see the non smokers complain about that. Though they want us all to stop. Who do you think will help pay those taxes then? And, yes, read please...doesnt state ANYWHERE smoking is the cause. For all we know a wire may have arced.

I JUST WANT ALL OF YOU TO KNOW THAT SMOKING WAS NOT A FACTOR IN THIS ACCIDENT!! JUST SO YOU ALL ARE AWARE OF THAT SO YOU CAN STOP ASSUMING AND POINTING FINGERS AT SMOKERS!! SHAME SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!

The bad part is......that if it were your family member that this had happened to, I highly doubt that any of you would appreciate the assumptions that smoking was involved, or the remarks about no sympathy, etc. Come on people, you don't have to like that people smoke, but lets be adults and not point fingers and make assumptions about this situation. I'm not saying lets stick up for smokers, but lets at least take into consideration that this is a person too, and very likely not a smoker.
