A man, woman and two children were taken to area hospitals Thursday night, Sept. 3, after their vehicle rolled over several times and came to a stop on its top, in a waterway.

The accident occurred about 7:29 p.m. along Ohio 49 south of Schnorf-Jones Road in Darke County.

Tammy Miller, 28, of Greenville, was in fair condition at Miami Valley Hospital Friday morning.

Gary Miller, 30, of Greenville, also had been transported there but a hospital nursing supervisor said she had no record of him in the computer system, possibly indicating he had been released.

Miller’s two children were transported to Children’s Medical Center by Arcanum and Phillipsburg Rescue squads, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. More information about their conditions was not immediately available Friday morning.

A preliminary investigation by the sheriff’s office revealed an Oldsmobile driven by Tammy Miller was northbound on Ohio 49 when she traveled off the right side of the road. She reportedly overcorrected, traveled across the road and struck a guardrail. The vehicle continued into the ditch, causing it roll over multiple times and then come to rest on its top in a waterway, a sheriff’s office news release said.

The accident remains under investigation.
