Future users of a stretch of the Miami County bike trail will learn about the life and legacy of Paul G. Duke, the founder of ChemLawn, thanks to a recognition area being planned for a key trail link being paid for by The Paul G. Duke Foundation.
Duke’s daughter, Pat Robinson and her husband, Thom, were among those who gathered Dec. 8 near where a recognition area of benches, trees and interpretive signs will be placed along the soon-to-be constructed 1.6-mile Paul G. Duke Memorial Bikeway. That bikeway section stretches from Lytle Road north to Eldean Road, north of Troy.
Among the interpretive signs will be one at the site where Duke’s nursery once stood.
Other signs will talk about the evolution of ChemLawn as it grew and eventually was sold.
A final sign will focus on The Paul G. Duke Foundation and its many contributions.
Pat Robinson said her late father and brother, Richard, were hard workers who worked well together and experienced “the American dream.”
