DAYTON — The University of Dayton has scheduled a prayer service for UD student Kacie Hausfeld, and her father, Thomas Hausfeld, who died in an airplane crash at Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport on Thursday, April 1.

The service will be 9 p.m. Monday for UD students and the UD community. The service is not open to the public.
Kacie was a junior early childhood education major and member of the women’s volleyball team at UD.

“I’m greatly saddened by this terrible tragedy,” said UD President Daniel J. Curran. “Our prayers and deepest sympathy are with the Hausfeld family and all of Kacie’s friends and teammates. This is a very close community, and this kind of loss touches us all deeply. In times like these, we come together to support the family and each other.”

Volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield said: “Our hearts and prayers go out to Lori, Ali and the rest of the Hausfeld family. Obviously we are all in shock right now. Kacie’s kind-heartedness, sense of humor and can-do approach was one of a kind. We will always love her with all of our hearts. We lost two genuinely special people today and we are all hurting. All of us who know them will try our best to stick together through this.”
