DAYTON — A school bus was struck by a white van at about 2 p.m. Monday, May 11, on Xenia Avenue near Keowee Street, according to a Dayton police dispatch supervisor.

Sgt. David Reed of Dayton Police Department said the driver of a white Econoline van was traveling north on Keowee. He tried to turn right onto Xenia and told police the steering wheel got caught in his pant leg. The van struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee sitting at the light on Xenia and then struck bus No. 137 head-on, Reed said.

The bus, transporting students from Ruskin Elementary School, was about half full. No one was hurt on the bus.

The two occupants of the van were transported by medics to Miami Valley Hospital.

Im glad the kids are safe...now with that said how in the world! Did the brake get stuck on his pant leg also? I fear the day the steering wheel touches my leg as i turn.
