BEAVERCREEK TWP., Greene County— The driver of a semi ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle on US 35 at Trebein Road, causing injuries at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Xenia Post.
The patrol is investigating the two-vehicle crash, which occurred when Kevin Hones, 47, of Brunswick, Ohio, drove a Kenworth tractor trailer westbound on US 35 and ran the red traffic light at Trebein Road, according to a press release from the state patrol.
Allan Snyder, 23, of Xenia was eastbound on US 35 in a Mercury Cougar. He was turning left onto Trebein Road northbound and had a green arrow to do so, the report said. The semi struck the Cougar and continued off the right side of the road through the guardrail, down an embankment and into a wooded area. The road was closed for several hours for clean-up operations.
The report said safety belts were in use and drug or alcohol use by the driver is not known at this time. No report was given of the extent of injuries or who was injured. The incident remains under investigation.
