Severe storms spawn tornados in Miami Valley

The National Weather Service in Wilmington reported sighting a tornado Saturday evening, May 30, and spotters in other Miami Valley communities south of Dayton also reported funnel clouds.

Storms rolled through between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. as systems collided from the northwest and southwest. Heavy rain, severe lighting and small to golf ball-sized hail were reported with touchdowns in communities spanning from Oxford to Northern Kentucky.

In addition to the sighting of a tornado in Wilmington, spotters reported funnel clouds in the Hamilton, West Chester and Mason areas in Butler and Warren counties, as well as in Bethel in Clermont County.

Unofficial sightings were reported in Oxford, Loveland, Amelia and Hillsboro.

Today’s forecast is sunny, with a high near 75 an a low of 53 tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday’s forecast is mostly sunny, with a high near 85 and a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10 p.m.
