XENIA – Subpoenas have been issued for documents that could help county and city prosecutors determine whether Tiffany Tehan or her family will face any misdemeanor or felony charges in connection with the nearly week-long national search for the Xenia mother.
Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen K. Haller and Xenia City Prosecutor Ronald C. Lewis will meet with Xenia police next Friday, April 30, about the case.
Haller said they will review police reports, witness statements and the results of subpoenas that have been issued in the search for the 31-year-old, which began Sunday as a missing person investigation but ended Thursday when she was found in Miami Beach, Fla. with Tre B. Hutcherson of Dayton.
Xenia City Manager Jim Percival said the search cost taxpayers more than $5,000 in overtime pay due to more than 100 extra hours by the Xenia police department.
“Once they’re ready to present that to us, we’ll sit down with them next week and review what they have and analyze the facts and the law and see if there’s any charge that might be appropriate,” Haller said Friday, April 23. “I have to think charges are unlikely, but I don’t know what they have.”
Asked if officials need to hear directly from Tehan or her family before deciding on any charges, Haller said: “We’d like that. We’d like to know what they’re side of the story is, but right now we can’t really force her to do anything.”
Xenia police Capt. Scott Anger had no comment about the number or nature of the subpoenas. The records won’t be available to the public until after the case is officially closed, which he said likely will take more than a week.
