WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — The public can buy tickets, beginning on Feb. 15, to attend a banquet or either of two luncheons in April to honor the visiting Doolittle Tokyo Raiders.
They are the surviving members of a daring U.S. military group that flew on a bombing raid of Japan 70 years ago during World War II.
The events are part of the activities planned as the Raiders gather for their 2012 reunion April 17-20 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
The 7 p.m. banquet is scheduled April 19 at the museum. Tickets are $70 apiece.
The luncheons will take place in the Hope Hotel and Richard C. Holbrooke Conference Center, on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The cost is $35 per ticket for the lunch on April 19, which will be the first opportunity to obtain autographs from the Raiders, and $30 per ticket for the April 20 lunch.
To purchase tickets, an order form is required. Order forms may be obtained starting on Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. online at www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/doolittle.asp, by telephone at (937) 904-9881 or in person at the museum’s information desk. Order forms must be returned to the museum with payment by check or credit card.
The Raiders also visited the museum for their annual reunion in 2010. Lt. Col. James Doolittle led an 80-man force on the April 18, 1942, top-secret mission to bomb Tokyo.
