WAYNE TWP., Warren County — Visitation hours are set for Friday, July 10, for 2-year-old Levi Jones, a Wayne Twp. toddler who died early Tuesday from injuries suffered when he and his father fell off an ATV they were riding.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. at The First Baptist Church, 1009 Lytle Road in Waynesville.
The funeral is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, followed by a burial at the New Burlington Cemetery in Clinton County.
The cemetery is two-thirds of a mile east of the intersection of New Burlington Road and Ohio 380.
The family has asked that anyone wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers, to please send them to the Levi Jones Memorial Fund at the Lebanon Citizens National Bank in Waynesville, or to the Wayne Twp. Fire Department or Children’s Medical Center in Dayton.
According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews around 6 p.m. Monday were called to 9711 Wilson Road in Wayne Twp. on a report of an ATV accident.
The sheriff’s office has not yet released details of its investigation, but did indicate that neither Ryan Jones, 29, nor his son, Levi, were wearing a helmet.
Levi was taken by helicopter to Children’s Medical Center in Dayton, where he died of collapsed lungs, according to Debbie Jones, the child’s grandmother. He was pronounced dead just after midnight.
She said her son was released from Miami Valley Hospital late Monday night.
She said the accident occurred when her son and grandson were making their way between the family’s crops and dairy cattle farm to a neighboring farm when their ATV hit a large, bulging rock and they were thrown from the vehicle.
Although neither was wearing a helmet, Debbie Jones said Children’s Medical Center officials told her that her grandson did not sustain any head injuries.
