The Ohio Music Education Association District 13 Honor Bands will be held Friday through Sunday at Franklin and Springboro high schools for junior high and high school students.
Franklin is hosting the Honor Bands for seventh and eighth grade students, while Springboro will sponsor grades nine through 12 musicians.
On Sunday, the seventh and eighth grade honor bands perform in concert at 2 in Franklin, and the High School Honor Bands perform at 4 p.m. at Springboro. Both concerts are open to the public, and family and friends are encouraged to attend.
OMEA District 13 Honor Band members were selected through an audition process with students from schools in Warren, Clinton, Butler, and Preble counties. The goal is to assemble the top musicians in District 13 together and provide them with a rewarding, educational experience. Each group rehearses several selections under the direction of a guest conductor on Friday and Saturday for approximately 12 to 14 hours. This event concludes with a performance on Sunday.
The following Springboro students selected to the Ohio Music Education Association’s District 13 High School Honor Band were: Allison White, Anna Ulrich, Connor Fuhrmann, Raymunco Marcelo and Graeme Materne.
For the Junior High Honor Band, the following Springboro students were: Brianna Sexton, Gretchen Fleischauer, Joshua Locke, A.J. Riegle, Laura Elder and Andrew Perkins.
