DAYTON — Sharon Howard, the executive director of community and public relations at WDTN-TV, is among four people who have lost their jobs in a work force reduction at the station, Dayton’s NBC network affiliate.
The recession prompted the decision to cut the jobs, WDTN’s management said in a statement issued Friday, Jan. 8.
“During this continued economic downturn, we had to make some difficult decisions across our entire business, including the elimination of four staff positions,” WDTN said in the statement. “Parting with valued employees is always difficult, and a decision we tried to avoid as long as possible.”
Management did not identify the employees whose jobs were eliminated.
Reached for comment, Howard said she had left WDTN this week. She said she could not elaborate.
Howard has been active in numerous community organizations. She had hosted “Dayton and Beyond,” a weekly public affairs program at WDTN.
