TURTLECREEK TWP. — A West Chester Twp. woman was killed Monday afternoon when the vehicle she was driving went off the road and struck a tree.

The crash occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Ohio 741 near the Bunnel Road intersection. Kelly Beerman, 26, who was wearing her seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:02 p.m., said Sgt. Tracy Callahan of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

There were no other passengers in the car at the time of the accident, Callahan said.

Beerman was driving a gray 2001 Chrysler Sebring south on Ohio 741 when she went off the right side of the road and struck a tree. Callahan said she dropped off the edge of the road and came back on, then she apparently over compensated and eventually lost control.

“It’s possible that something drew her attention away from the roadway,” he said.

The accident remains under investigation. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is scheduled to conduct an autopsy this morning.

“It does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor,” Callahan added.

Ohio 741 was cleared about 4 p.m. and reopened, according to dispatch.
