SIDNEY — A woman fell off the back of a motorcycle on Interstate 75 at the northern edge of Sidney Wednesday evening, and the motorcycle driver kept going leaving her injured on the pavement, said Sgt. Paul Weber of the Piqua post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Weber said investigators were able to track the driver down, and they placed Paul S. Webster, 27, of Sidney in custody about four hours later.

The passenger, Alexsis Wildermuth, 24, of Sidney, broke one leg in five places and had other serious injuries, Weber said. She was first taken from the scene by ambulance to Wilson Memorial Hospital and was later flown by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital. Wildermuth was listed in serious condition Thursday morning.

Weber said she was in serious condition Wednesday night, but no information on her condition was available Thursday.

Weber said the couple were traveling north on I-75 at about 8 p.m. Wednesday on a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle. Witnesses said the motorcycle was going about 65 to 70 miles an hour.

When the driver accelerated, Wildermuth fell off, and the driver kept going, Weber said.

Based on information gathered at the scene, troopers were able to determine who was driving, and they executed a search warrant at a residence and arrested Webster.

He was cited for aggravated vehicular assault, aggravated leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license, Weber said. Webster was being held in the Shelby County jail Thursday morning and was scheduled for arraignment later in the day.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet, and investigators believe alcohol and excessive speed may have been factors in the accident.

wow... this all blows my mind.
I know paul, and could never imagine him leaving a woman in the middle of the road. I slept on the back of his bike and he never let me fall.
either way, I've lost all respect for him, and for sure will never ride with him again, not like he will ever get a motorcyclist's license again anyway.
The best wishes to you alexis

What the hell is wrong with you idiots in Ohio. I can't believe what i'm reading. I was traveling on business and heading back to the "land of helmets" (Michigan). We were seconds behind this accident. He fell off too, got up, dusted himself off and pick-up is precious bike and took off. COWARD, NO BALLS THERE. She was a mess. She was already being helped so we kept going, and prayed for her the rest of the way home.

I knew Alexis in school. We were friends. I honestly hope that everything works in her favor. But I also hope that this will be a wake up call for the lady. My thoughts and prayers go out to her & her family. But more go out to Webster: her family will be punishment enough!! He deserves the laws harshest punishments.
