BRADFORD, Darke County — Weather stopped a CareFlight helicopter from responding to a woman injured in a fall, but Bradford Fire and Rescue was able to transport her to a hospital.

Wednesday night, Oct. 15, the 35-year-old woman fell into an excavation hole that was approximately 2 feet deep at 9357 Horatio-Harris Creek Road near Bradford, Darke County sheriff’s Sgt. David Mikesell said.

She hit her head on a piece of cement that was in the hole, but was conscious when emergency crews arrived, Mikesell said.

A male who was with the woman at the time she fell called 911 but had left the scene before help arrived.

Deputies located and questioned the male, as well as the victim and deemed the fall accidental after determining that no criminal conduct took place.

The victim was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Buzz, I can only assume your comment "Sounds like a lawsuit to me." means you hope the Bradford Fire and Rescue sue her for the cost they inccured rescuing her dumb, sorry @ss. Sounds to me like she is either legitimately mentally impaired or she was very drunk. God help her if she is just that stupid.

I think the more education we get, the dumber we get. People just do not have common sense anymore, they don't think of consequences and their answer might possibly be a law suit. If you don't watch your step around freshly dug up ground, which is usually loose & unstable, you might fall in. Don't be so nosey & be cautious around work areas. There are so many know it alls and they fall into septics, ditches and holes. Accidents happen, but sometimes because of carelessness. Otherwise, sorry!

It was only 1 foot to start with but then she tried to dig herself out.

This reminds me of the news story on channel 7 the other day about the woman rescued after she was found in a septic tank. According to the story that aired, police were "unsure how the woman ended up in the tank." I guess they didn't think to ASK HER?? Let's all agree that landing in a septic tank isn't something you're likely to forget easily.
