HAMILTON — A woman accused last year of pretending to be a boy to build a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old Springboro girl was booked into Butler County Jail Thursday after being arrested Dec. 8 in California.
Patricia Dye, 32, is charged with felony failure to report an address change after moving from Middletown in August, according to court records.
Sgt. Monte Mayer of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said she will likely appear in court Jan. 3, as courts are closed Friday and Monday for the holiday.
Dye, also known as Matt Abrams, was released from the Warren County Jail last December after serving six months for contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a child, sexual imposition and attempted sexual imposition.
She was accused of tricking the Springboro girl and her guardians into believing she was a boy.
Dye had originally complied with required address registration when she moved to the Middletown area in December 2010, Mayer said. However, by summer 2011, the sheriff’s office had confirmed information from a tip that Dye fled the area and moved “out west.”
Dye was arrested Dec. 8 in a motel in Orick, Calif., after being listed on Butler County’s “Most Wanted” poster for the felony charge, Mayer said. Two sheriff’s deputies flew to California this week to return Dye to Ohio.
“Once again, we have shown that you might run, but cannot hide from the long arm of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Richard K. Jones. “We will find you and bring you to justice.”
Dye also violated the probation set forth by the Warren County Juvenile Court, according to Tony Brigano, court administrator.
Brigano said as part of her community control, Dye was supposed to be actively engaged in sex offender-specific treatment. Probation Officer Jamie Carr filed a probation violation in July 2011 after Dye failed to appear in court.
Dye’s arrest of Dye was a joint effort of sheriff’s office, Butler County Prosecutor’s Office, FBI agents and U.S. Marshal’s Office.
