Dayton police nab 5 in robberies from cell phone app meet-ups

Five men are in Montgomery County Jail in connection to a series of robberies.

Dayton police Lt. Gregg Gaby announced the arrests Wednesday by the Dayton Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau.

Those arrested include:

  • Damar Dancer, 20, for aggravated robbery;
  • Denisen Dancer, 32, for aggravated robbery;
  • Darrick Knight, 29, for having weapons while under disability and improper handling of a firearm;
  • Davion Lankford, 20, for receiving stolen property, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and carrying a concealed weapon; and
  • Demonta Sanders, 19, for aggravated robbery.

The offenses relate to armed robberies of individuals attempting to sell goods using the LetGo or Offer Up apps. At least two victims were physically assaulted, police said.

All the incidents were in the Roosevelt neighborhood.

Detectives seized evidence related to the crimes during a raid Aug. 30 at a home on North Woodward Avenue. Evidence seized included three firearms, two of which were stolen.
