Dayton school board to vote on preschool, technology contracts tonight

Dayton’s school board will hold a rare Monday meeting tonight, and will consider two contracts that have been in the works concerning preschool and information technology.

The agenda for today’s 5:30 p.m. meeting includes a contract with the local Preschool Promise agency, via which Preschool Promise would pay Dayton Public Schools $650,000 this year “to support the expansion of all DPS preschool classes to a full-day, five-day-a-week schedule.”

That change to a “full-day, five-day” schedule happened at the beginning of this school year, but the parties just finished the details of the contract.

The agenda also includes a $52,000 contract with NextStep Networking for “review of managed IT services” for the district. NextStep will help DPS create a “request for proposals” to hire a company to oversee technology services.
