Dog dies in ‘suspicious’ garage fire

A fire in a detached garage destroyed two cars and killed a dog early Tuesday morning.

Shortly after 3 a.m., fire crews responded to the 250 block of Delaware Avenue on the report of a garage fire. Upon arrival, they found flames shooting through the roof of a garage that housed two vehicles, which were both destroyed.

A dog that was chained up to the garage was killed in the blaze.

Embers from the blaze spread to a vacant house, which caused it to catch fire. A squatter was found sleeping in an upstairs bedroom when the vacant house caught fire.

The intensity from the garage fire also caused damage to another garage across the alley.

The fire is being called suspicious.
