Downtown Dayton grocery store wraps up $75,000 renovation

The Stop-n-Save Foods in downtown Dayton is putting the finishing touches on a $75,000 renovation project that allowed the store to expand its offerings.

The improvements include new refrigeration and freezer units, shelving for produce and grocery merchandise, and upgrades to lighting and flooring, according to Stop-n-Save manager and co-owner Joe Abboud.

“We started in early November, and we will probably finish before the end of January,” Abboud said. The store has remained open during the makeover.

The fresh produce selection now includes items such as avocados, mushrooms, greens, and bell peppers, and an expanded selection of lettuce and cabbage, Abboud said. The dairy and meat cases have been enlarged as well.

The store has operated at at 36 W. Third St., between Main and Ludlow streets, for two decades.
