2013-2014 Premier Health Broadway Series
Oct. 22-27, 2013 – Schuster Center
Life-sized puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company help tell the inspiring story of a young boy and his beloved horse, Joey. The critically acclaimed drama, which includes music and songs, has been heralded for its inventive staging. The galloping, charging horses are strong enough for actors to actually ride.
IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY
Dec. 3-15, 2013 – Victoria Theatre
The popular classic holiday film, featuring the beloved character of the idealistic George Bailey, is given new life as a 1940s live radio drama complete with humorous commercials and jazzy radio jingles.
Jan. 28-Feb. 2, 2014 – Schuster Center
This musical comedy, featuring original music by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Menken, is the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the police hide her in a convent. Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.
April 8-13, 2014 – Schuster Center
This popular Broadway musical was inspired by actual events: it’s about “a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black club singer who is ready for her big break.”
The winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical, “Memphis” also features a features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro (“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”) and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan. The music references the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tenn.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
May 27-June 1, 2014 – Schuster Center
The Broadway hit, based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature film, returns. The family-friendly love story incorporates lavish sets and costumes.
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET
June 17-22, 2014 – Schuster Center
On Dec. 4, 1956, four young and talented musicians gathered at Sun Records in Memphis for what would turn out to be one of the greatest jam sessions ever. This hit musical was inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time.
Million Dollar Quartet features songs that include “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “That’s All Right,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Matchbox,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Hound Dog” and more.

Those who did not pick up their Broadway Series renewal packs at Thursday night’s event can expect to receive them in the mail this week. Deadline for seating change requests for the series is March 10. For same seats and best prices, season ticket holders should renew by March 5.

Ticket Center Stage Box Office hours are Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday noon – 4 p.m., and two hours prior to each performance.

All season ticket holders have the opportunity to purchase tickets for Star Attraction shows in advance of the general public. Renewal packets for season ticket holders to both the PNC Family Series and Projects Unlimited Variety Series will be mailed Monday, March 4. Individual tickets to all performances will go on sale this summer.

A finalist on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” Tom Cotter has appeared on a host of television shows as well as his own special: “Comedy Central Presents… Tom Cotter.” He is a frequent visitor to popular comedy clubs around the nation.
YOU SAY TOMATO, I SAY SHUT UP
March 14, 2014 – Victoria Theatre
After 15 years of marriage, TV personalities and real-life-married-couple Annabelle Gurwitch (“Dinner and a Movie,” Fired!) and Jeff Kahn (“The Ben Stiller Show,” “Forty Year Old Virgin”) have adapted their memoir for the stage. This new production is now starring Gabrielle Mirabella (Annabelle) and Kevin Bartini (Jeff).
May 2, 2014 – Victoria Theatre
Violinists Kev and Wil B perform a funky fusion of classical, jazz, hip-hop, blues and R&B. Joining them will be DJ TK on the turntables, Beatdown on drums and Joe Cello on cello.

The Tri-State’s own Zoot Theatre Company returns to the Victoria Theatre with its imaginative puppets. This is Zoot’s own take on the popular children’s story — complete with the Cheshire Cat, Queen of Hearts, Mad Hatter and, of course, Alice.

The creative folks at Light Wire Theater (“America’s Got Talent” favorites) use cutting-edge technology, moving sculpture and dance to create unusual theatrical experiences. The music that’s included ranges from classical and jazz to pop.

Violinists Kev and Wil B will compose a concert just for kids combining classic favorites with pop. The group will do a two-day residency at Victoria Theatre including student and family performances.
2013-2014 The Frank M. Tait Foundation Discovery Series
More than 30,000 students a year are touched by the Through The Frank M. Tait Foundation Discovery Series which integrates the arts with other academic subjects. Three productions from the PNC Family Series will also have performances for the Discovery audiences.
