Fund drive continues until Jan. 12

As the annual Combined Federal Campaign heads into its final month of pledging, the volunteer executive director of the local district asks that people keep in mind how important it is to support charities that provide programs and services for their beneficiaries, whether they are local, regional, national or international.

“If someone’s heart is with an organization based in San Antonio or Honolulu, they have the opportunity through the CFC to support them as well as local charities,” said Susy Himelhoch of the Ohio Combined Federal Campaign, Miami Valley District. “It’s local and global, as there are more than 10,000 charitable organizations available for people to support.”

Donors have until Jan. 12, 2018, to contribute. They may pledge electronically (fulfilled by payroll deduction or credit/debit) or use a paper pledge form (for payroll deduction or one-time contributions fulfilled by personal check). Paper pledge forms are available from key workers or agency campaign chairs. Electronic pledging, including those fulfilled by credit/debit, can be made through OPM’s new pledge site at https://cfcgiving.opm.gov. The site provides a search tool that accesses the entire list of this year’s CFC-approved charities.

Use of the system, like participation in CFC, is strictly voluntary. Anyone who wishes to make a one-time gift or use a paper CFC pledge form can do so.

Pledges made to this year’s campaign and fulfilled through payroll allotment will be deducted January through December 2018.

“Please, ‘show some love’ and feel good about making a contribution,” Himelhoch said. “It’s all about the charities and giving from the heart.”

The base’s CFC office, located in Bldg. 1, is staffed until Dec. 22 and will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., closed for lunch between noon and 1 p.m. From Dec. 28 through Jan. 12, the office will be open Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
