Graeter’s, Braxton Brewing set to release 2nd ice cream-inspired ale

Graeter’s Ice Cream and Braxton Brewing Company are collaborating again for another ice cream-inspired ale.

Braxton released its Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout earlier this year and now the two companies are partnering again for Blueberry Pie Brown Ale in time to support The Cure Starts Now, which researches pediatric brain cancer.

The new concoction will be unveiled at a tapping party Sept. 9 at the brewery’s taproom, 27 W. Seventh St. in Covington, Ky.

Graeter’s Blueberry Pie Brown Ale is inspired by Graeter’s seasonal flavors, Elena’s Blueberry Pie, a special flavor created by a Cincinnati family, also in support of The Cure Starts Now.

The new Blueberry Pie Brown Ale brew will be available at participating Kroger stores throughout Cincinnati and Dayton, as well as Northern Kentucky, Lexington, Louisville and Nashville beginning on Sept. 11.

Braxton Brewing Co. and its wholesale partners have pledged a donation of at least $10,000 to The Cure Starts Now.

“Our support of The Cure Starts Now is entering a new decade,” said Chip Graeter, fourth generation co-owner of Graeter’s. “Ten years ago we created this special ice cream flavor and have been committed to the cause ever since. And this year, we’re elevating awareness even more with Braxton Brewing Co.’s ice cream-inspired ale.”

As part of its continued support for The Cure Starts Now, Graeter’s will feature Elena’s Blueberry Pie ice cream during the Cones for the Cure Campaign from Sept. 7 to 17, and throughout September while supplies last.

Patrons of Graeter’s during the campaign period will also have the opportunity to make a donation directly to The Cure Starts Now Foundation. Graeter’s will offer a coupon booklet with up to $20 in savings for every donation of $5 or more.

“Based on the success of Black Raspberry Chip Milk Stout, we thought long and hard about what we could do to raise the bar,” said Jake Rouse, co-founder and CEO of Braxton Brewing Company. “After hearing The Cure Starts Now’s story about the genesis of the ‘Homerun Cure’ it became abundantly clear, I couldn’t be more thrilled to have such an amazing beer support such a worthwhile cause.”

Keith Desserich, co-Founder and chairman of the board at The Cure Starts Now, is happy to see two area businesses helping to support a cause that started in Cincinnati.

“Through Graeter’s support, we’ve been able to raise nearly $500,000 in new cancer research and we couldn’t be more excited about having Braxton’s involvement in this to take it to new a new level,” he said.
